Join us for an in-depth exploration of the exhibition Posing Beauty in African American Culture. This workshop is designed specifically for UF students and offers a unique opportunity to examine contemporary understandings of beauty through the lenses of aesthetics, race, class and gender, all within the context of art. The workshop is free and will be led by guest artist Angela DeCarlis, director of Figure on Diversity, a project that advocates for art that reflects everyone. The workshop will include a gallery tour led by a museum educator, followed by a lesson on the art of figure drawing from a draped model. This will be an excellent opportunity for UF students from all majors and years to engage in hands-on learning while exploring contemporary issues of beauty in a supportive and welcoming environment. No prior experience is necessary, and all supplies and lunch will be provided.
Space is limited, and registration is required. To sign up for this exciting workshop and receive more information, please contact register@harn.ufl.edu.
