Why should I give to the Harn?
While the Harn Museum of Art receives financial support from the University of Florida for its maintenance and staffing needs, the Harn must seek private-dollar support to fund exhibitions, programs, publications, collections care, and conservation as well as general operating needs. Support from members and friends like you enables the Harn to remain free and open to the public while funding its robust exhibition, program, and publication efforts.
More about the Annual Fund
The Harn Museum of Art is dedicated to offering relevant and engaging exhibitions and programs, which are free and open to all. Gifts to the Harn Annual Fund (016131) are what makes these possible.
In recognition of your free membership and in appreciation of belonging, we hope that your annual giving will be in accordance with your philanthropy. Contributions made to the Annual Fund are 100 percent tax deductible.
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. This can increase your gift by a ratio of 1:1, 2:1, or even 3:1. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please click here and enter your employer’s name.
For these reasons and more, we encourage you to support the Harn’s growth and success by making a one-time annual gift today to the Annual Fund or consider making a pledge commitment (for up to five years).

Gifts in Honor or in Memory
Honor a family member or friend or commemorate an occasion by making a gift to the Harn Museum of Art. You may also plan memorial gifts by establishing directives through your estate plans. The Harn General Acquisition Fund (004561) and the Harn Conservation Endowment (O12837) are two suggested funds for such important tributes. Discuss other potential options with the Development Office.

All gifts are made to the University of Florida Foundation for the benefit of the Harn Museum of Art.
Artwork
Gifts of works of art fall within the Harn Museum’s collecting areas (African art, Asian art, modern art of the Americas, international contemporary art and photography) can leave a lasting mark on the Harn’s collection and be enjoyed by generations to come. Download a copy of the University of Florida Foundation’s Gifts of Works of Art brochure to learn more about the possibility of giving works of art to the Harn Museum.
Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts are the simplest and easiest way for you to make a gift. They can be used to support an area of special interest, to establish an endowed fund (with a minimum of $50,000), or to support the Harn’s greatest needs. When you make a gift of cash, you will receive a charitable tax deduction that will provide you with savings on this year’s tax return.
Endowments
Create an enduring legacy by establishing an endowed fund, which provides a perpetual stream of income that supports the museum’s priorities and helps fulfill the museum’s ongoing strength.
Real Estate
A gift of real property (such as your home, vacation property, vacant land, farmland or ranch or commercial property) can make a great gift. If you own appreciated real property, you can avoid paying capital gains tax by making a gift to the Harn.
Securities
A gift of securities, including your stocks or bonds, is an easy way for you to make a gift to the Harn. By making a gift of your appreciated securities, you can avoid paying capital gains tax that would otherwise be due if you sold these assets.
Life Insurance Policy
A gift of a life insurance policy is an excellent way to make a gift to the Harn. If your life insurance policy is no longer needed or will no longer benefit your survivors consider gifting it to the museum to help further our mission.
Life Income Plan
A gift of retirement assets, such as a gift from your IRA, 401k, 403b, pension or other tax deferred plan, is an excellent way to make a gift. By making a gift of your retirement assets, you will help further the Harn’s work.
Bequests
A charitable bequest is one of the easiest ways to leave a lasting impact on the Harn Museum of Art. You may designate our organization as the beneficiary of your asset by will, trust or other instrument.
