Candidate Presentation for Curator of Contemporary Art

The Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida is looking forward to welcoming Alexandra Nickolaou, a candidate for our Curator of Contemporary Art position, who will present highlights from her curatorial career and discuss her vision for contemporary art exhibitions and acquisitions at the Harn Museum. Alexandra Nickolaou is a PhD candidate in Art History and African Studies at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). Her doctoral research explores the interplay between traditional African art forms and contemporary artistic practices among artists in Ghana. She currently serves as Registrar Graduate Assistant at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art (Bloomington, IN). Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, she held curatorial positions at Bespoke Art Consultants (Dallas, TX, 2021 – 2023), Smart Museum of Art (Chicago, IL, 2019 – 2020), and Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit, MI, 2014 – 2019). While at Indiana University, she has curated exhibitions for University Collections at McCalla, on contemporary African art and African Diasporic art from the Americas.
