Candidate Presentation for Curator of Contemporary Art

The Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida is looking forward to welcoming Sara Garzón, a candidate for our Curator of Contemporary Art position, who will present highlights from her curatorial career and discuss her vision for contemporary art exhibitions and acquisitions at the Harn Museum. Sara Garzón received her PhD (2022) in Art History & Visual Studies from Cornell University. Her academic research, publications, and curatorial work have focused on modern and contemporary Latin American and Latinx art, Global South solidarity movements, anti-colonial discourses, and Indigenous new media practices. She currently serves as Adjunct Professor at the School of Visual Arts in the Master’s in Curatorial Studies Program (NY, NY). She has served as Assistant Curator at Canal Projects (2022 – 2024) and has held two fellowships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2014 – 2015, 2020 – 2021), both in New York City. As an Independent Curator (2019 – 2024), she has curated exhibitions in Croatia, Mexico City, Ecuador, Brazil, and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
