Major: Art History & Business Management and MS Marketing combination degree

What motivated you to pursue an internship at the Harn?

Art is one of my main passions, so I have focused my professional goals towards working in an arts related industry. After studying art history at the University of Florida and visiting the Harn Museum of Art on campus, the possibility of working in museum administration gave me a clear objective to aim towards. Not only was the Harn a place I loved to visit but it was also somewhere I strived to work at. This internship is helping me start my career as a young professional and develop a career within promotion, marketing, or development-related roles, specifically focused on pursuing roles within art museum administration.

Why were you interested in the Development Communications internship?

While studying art history I am also pursuing a second BS in business management and MS in marketing. I have put a conscious effort towards combining my passion for art history with my proclivity towards strategic and promotional work. The Development Communications Internship was immediately appealing to me for its focus on such promotional work, with its duties relating to brand storytelling, audience engagement, email marketing, and donor relations.

What are some new skills that you’ve learned at the Harn?

I greatly developed my skills in digital/cross communication and member relations within this internship. I work towards the goals of boosting the engagement/retention of Harn members and championing our relationships with donors. To achieve these goals, I have become proficient in effectively promoting and communicating the Harn’s mission across various platforms and to many different audiences. By gaining experience writing for our eNewsletter and meeting with donors I am now a better researcher, marketer, and communicator.

What interests or hobbies do you like to do in your free time?

Watching shows and movies, both classics and new releases, is one of my favorite hobbies. I definitely contribute to keeping movie theaters alive! I also love making art and playing soccer, as I have done these activities for my whole life. My interest in making art has recently led me to many different craft projects and new media, which are all fun to learn how to use and master.

How has the Criser Internship stipend impacted your academic/career development? In what ways has it enhanced your knowledge of art and museum work?

The Criser Internship is a generous gift that I am honored to receive, as it has significantly supported my college studies and future professional goals. My recent admission into the Warrington College of Business’ combined program for an MS in Marketing has turned my focus towards funding my graduate studies.  I am grateful to have an opportunity that allows me to support both my education and profession together.
