Discover the art of the polka dot! Watch the video to learn about artist Yayoi Kusama and her dreams of covering the world and everything in it in with dots. Then draw inspiration from Kusama to create your very own polka dot pumpkin paper sculpture.
Materials:
Paper
Glue
Scissors
Hole Puncher
Drawing Utensils
1. Cut a sheet of paper into four equal size strips.
2. Use the drawing utensil of your choice to decorate the strips with polka dots.
3. Take two paper strips then place one on top of the other to create the letter “X”. Glue in place. Repeat the process with the remaining two paper strips.
4. Take one “X” shaped paper strip then place on top of the other to create a star shape. Glue in place.
5. Flip the star-shaped paper creation so that the polka dots are facing down towards your art-making surface.
6. Connect opposite ends of strips by gluing them together. Repeat until all of the strips are glued together in the center of the paper sculpture.
7. Add a stem by cutting out a strip of construction paper and gluing it to the top of the pumpkin.
8. Enjoy your polka dot pumpkin creation!
